I live in rural circumstances which has some few power outages yearly and the occasional (but rare) anomaly when a tree fall might take out a high voltage line which then contacts the local low voltage and creates a small explosion sending huge spikes into the homes locally. So I'm intending to purchase either a APC SmartUPS 1500VA USB Tower UPS or an APC - BACKUPS RS 1500VA LCD-120V LINEINT and would like some feedback on which to purchase. I'm also not really clear on the substantive difference between the Smart UPS and the RS versions. I find myself confused by all the reports of wake from sleep overload issues with the APC UPS which I had intended to purchase. Those will be the only items plugged into the battery power supplied side. I've read most of the posts which a search finds about purchasing a new UPS for use with my Mac Pro and a 24" LCD monitor (this year I'll go 30").
